Do you find yourself asking,
The number one struggle people often express when they talk about their emotional pain is feeling stuck.
If you are experiencing an inability to move forward in your career, relationship or you are struggling to find the joy in life you once felt, you may be experiencing the effects of unresolved trauma or unmet attachment needs.
This can manifest in physical symptoms such as chronic pain, headaches, and fatigue. You may find yourself living with anxiety, depression, or intense feelings of fear or anger. Ultimately you may feel disconnected and struggle with questions about your beliefs or purpose.

- Inform a potential victim of violence of a client’s intention to harm;
- Inform an appropriate family member, health care professional, or police, if necessary, of a client’s intention to end his or her life;
- Release a client’s file if there is a court order to do so;
- Inform the Children’s Aid Society if there is suspicion of a child being at risk or in need of protection due to neglect, or physical, sexual, or emotional abuse;
- Report a health professional who has sexually abused a client;
- Share information with another practice associate or the Ontario College of Social Workers or Social Service Workers for supervision or auditing purposes;
- In the case of couples/family counselling, when a session is held without all family/couple members present, information shared in that session may be shared when the family/couple sessions resume.
We use a treatment team approach wherein we regularly consult on cases to ensure our clients are receiving collaborative care for their concerns. During these team consultations and/or supervision, only information that is relevant to your treatment will be shared amongst members of the treating team.
The length of therapy depends on several complex factors. Thus, it is hard to determine the number of sessions that may be required. Once we understand your history and therapeutic goals, we may be able to provide a better estimation of how many therapy sessions may be required. Generally, we suggest between 10 and 20 sessions to experience relief and peace.
Our clinic was created by a founder who has over 20 years experience in trauma and psychotherapy. Quality care is held in high regard. We base our assessment and treatment skills on the evidence based modalities that embrace neurobiology and the autonomic nervous system. We continue to train and refine our knowledge and clinical skills to serve you with the most up to date practices.
Trauma occurs when you have been through distressing events and the disturbance remains within your mind or body. We are not able to work naturally through the experiences as there is shock and disturbance that is beyond how we normally regulate our emotions and physiologically modulate our body. Trauma can occur at any age and create disturbances in different ways through negative thoughts of self. For instance, thinking we didn’t do enough, it’s our fault or we are not worthy or love. Trauma often impacts our body leaving as with unexplained body aches or auto immune sensitivities. Emotionally we can also become hyper vigilant, feel depilated or fluctuate between the two.
All of our team members are licensed to offer therapy in Ontario. Some of our therapists can also offer online sessions in Nova Scotia and British Columbia. Please see our team bios to see where they can practice.
